I dreamed of an aunt, an uncle, a mentor, who said,
"I couldn't love you more if you had been my own child."
And I thought, Godde loves me, loves me
infinitely.
What if Godde were to say to me,
"I couldn't love you more if you had been my own Son"?
Could I stand the responsibility
of a love so great it would give up
Godde's greatest gift, life itself?
Eek!
And I thought, but Christ,
the Second Persona of the Godhead,
is the one we celebrate as
true Godde AND true human being,
the perfect marriage of Godde and humanity.
We focus so much on
the divine presence
in the human Jesus of Nazareth
that maybe we tend to downplay
the human presence
in the divine and illimitable Godhead.
Maybe Godde COULDN'T love me more
if I had been Godde's own Child.
Maybe I AM Godde's own Child.
Maybe I have to live up to that.
Eek!
