Don’t have a lot of time to plow through ancient Iron Age writings wondering what a cubit is? Fear not; here’s the Bible in 100 words.
This piece is based on a sort-of-a-poem I found on the Internet under the subject line, “The Bible in 50 Words,” and despite some dogged searching, I still do not know the name of the original author. However, I have changed much of it and added to its original 50 words, not only because I felt the original middle section was very weak (it completely overlooked both the Judges and the Exile!), but also because if women hadn’t existed, the human race would have died out before it even got started, and not one female was mentioned in the original piece.
Some of the original lines remain; I’m particularly fond of the last six lines, which are the original author’s, whoever he may have been.
